Job summary
Registered Manager of a large home for Children with Disabilities Caudwell House is a home for children with physical disabilities, associated learning difficulties and sensory and health needs. It provides both short breaks and full-time residential care. Staff will perform health procedure, intimate and personal care and moving and handling tasks which they receive training for and are competency assessed by health professionals.
Main duties of the job
To be responsible for the day to day running of the home in line with Department Policies and Procedures and the Children's Homes Regulations and Quality Standards & Regulations 2015.To strategically lead on ALL safeguarding matters and carry out the designated safeguarding officer role within the home.To effectively manage budgets and report to the Service Manager on all issues in a timely manner.Responsibility for all staff and an overall budget in the region of £ million.
About us
Nottinghamshire County Council currently operates two homes for children with disabilities. There is also a plan to operate a further four bed home for children with disabilities within the next 18 months. Nottinghamshire County Council also operates two mainstream homes with a plan to grow this provision further. The homes for children with disabilities can be accessed by children from all over the UK. Each home provides specialist care to meet children's specific physical and emotional needs. Caudwell House caters for children with physical disabilities and associated learning difficulties, the majority of which require wheelchair usage. Conditions include cerebral palsy, spina bifida and muscular dystrophy resulting in some service users having total and high health care needs and some with a low life threshold. The home offers residential and respite placements to children. We believe it is important to create an environment where a child's individual, spiritual, cultural, educational, health, leisure and life experiences are met in a non-institutional way. We strive to create and maintain a homely, welcoming atmosphere where children feel safe, listened to, valued, respected and cared for. Living in a residential home can, and should be, a valuable and rewarding experience for children. Children are helped to develop positive skills and practical abilities, through a range of positive interactions with staff and others.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to become the Registered Manager of an outstanding home for children with disabilities. Caudwell House is a home for children with physical disabilities, associated learning difficulties and sensory and health needs. It provides both short breaks and full-time residential care. Staff will perform health procedure, intimate and personal care and moving and handling tasks which they receive training for and are competency assessed by health professionals. The home is based in the market town of Southwell and has been providing a service for children since the 1950s. We are looking for an inspirational, experienced leader who has the right skills, values, and knowledge to develop and lead a staff team to work with the most vulnerable children, ensuring their physical, emotional, cultural and health care needs are met. Are you motivated, ambitious, caring and committed to working within a regulated, residential service for children with disabilities in line with the Service Plan and Quality Care Standards and Childrens Homes regulations 2015. If so, this is the opportunity you have been waiting for. You must have 5 years' experience of working with children and young people within a residential setting and a minimum of 2 years working with children with disabilities. We also offer enhanced pay for weekend, evening and Bank holiday working and a payment for on calls. Additionally, there are extensive training and development opportunities, and you will receive a full induction and support to integrate you into the service. Regular, ongoing, supportive supervision will be offered by the Service Manager and a mentor will be provided when you join the service.
