Job overview

A specialist practitioner who supports the planning, delivery and evaluation of specialist nursing care within the Multi disciplinary team. Assess, treat and manage own specialist workload of patients and maintain accurate records in line with Trust policy.

Works with colleagues, or as an independent practitioner, in providing the highest possible standard of care for patients with Respiratory Disease.

The post-holder will support the Ward Sisters/Charge Nurses and Matron for the Wards in promoting excellence in nursing care to maintain and improve clinical standards. The post-holder will ensure that all patients are treated with compassion, dignity and respect, placing value on the diversity of the local community and beyond. 

The post-holder will work with the multi-professional respiratory team in the implementation and delivery of an innovative and evidence-based service that addresses the needs of patients with acute or chronic respiratory disease and their carers. The post holder will work within the Respiratory team led by The Lead Respiratory Nurse

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a dynamic and innovative Nurse to work as part of the Respiratory Nurse team. The post Holder will support the Senior Respiratory Nurses in promoting excellence in the care of respiratory patients, to maintain and improve clinical standards throughout the hospital. You will be part of a team of Respiratory nurses supporting the evidence based care of all respiratory conditions. This will include supporting the running of the acute Non invasive ventilation service. You will be involved in providing training and support to all clinical staff within the Trust in relation to respiratory care.

Essential criteria

RN Level 1 ENB 998 or equivalent Evidence of CPD

Desirable criteria

Degree or working towards Research evidence Recognised management course (or be prepared to undertake.

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria

Promote leadership skills Computer skills IV additives. Phlebotomy and cannulation. High dependency course

Desirable criteria

Knowledge and research within specific specialty Human Resource skills Male catheterisation

Experience

Essential criteria

Substantial experience as a Registered Nurse at band 5 Productive ward skills and awareness Teaching and assessing junior staff and students
