Job summary

We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a qualified Sonographer to join our friendly, passionate and supportive team at West Suffolk Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (WSFT) as a Bank MSK Sonographer.

The successful candidate will be expected to complete MSK ultrasound scans unsupervised, working cross a range of WSFT sites including Newmarket Diagnostic Centre (opening December 2024).

The successful candidate will need to be self-motivated, diligent and committed to providing an excellent service to our patients. You will be required to obtain high quality ultrasound images and diagnostic reports. We welcome applications from MSK Sonographers with and without qualifications in ultrasound guided injections.

Main duties of the job

Provide high-quality ultrasound imaging and diagnostic reports within the WSFT main hospital site and community settings. This may include MSK examinations.

Maintain high clinical and safety standards in ultrasound imaging.

Associated tasks include organisational roles, quality assurance and safety procedures. Management of own list.

Person Specification

Education and Qualifications

Essential

oQualified Healthcare Professional, registered with a recognised governing body oRecognised post graduate qualification in medical or clinical ultrasound (or equivalent) oComprehensive, up to date CPD portfolio related to advances in US imaging and management activities

Desirable

oAdditional training/ qualification in a specific area of US scanning oProfessional registration with a recognised governing body oAble to complete diagnostic and therapeutic ultrasound guided injections.

Experience and Knowledge

Essential

oDemonstrable clinical and leadership experience oUnderstanding of the current challenges MSK US scanning oExperience working in a hospital environment that supports a wide range of complex clinical examinations oInterest and experience in MSK ultrasound procedures

Desirable

oKnowledge of the Quality Standard for Imaging (QSI) process
