London, United Kingdom Energy Aspects Ltd Full time

Purpose

Energy Aspects is looking for a Long Term energy demand analyst to join our growing energy transition team in London. This is a fantastic opportunity for an intellectually curious, rigorous thinker who is comfortable with numbers and is skilled at communicating our conclusions in a variety of formats including text and visualisations. The successful candidate will assist the Long-Term demand team by automating and improving models for sectoral demand, streamlining processes and improving forecasts through model refinements and the use of new data sources.

The Long Term analyst will have opportunities to contribute to periodic reports for our clients and will be expected to assist clients by resolving inquiries directed to the analyst team. This will entail both working closely with the head of the long-term service to develop skills and knowledge to present to clients and answer questions and building collaborative relationships with members of the wider business to align your long-term analysis with our existing services.

Energy Aspects analysts are expected to consistently produce work at the high standard expected by our demanding client base. Our analysts work with some of the most well-regarded energy sector commentators and are encouraged to develop their own voice and presence within the industry. We are meticulous about ensuring a high degree of accuracy across our services so this position will require flexibility and the drive to go beyond the core hours when needed. You must be able to work independently and be capable of prioritising your tasks to ensure success. In exchange, we offer excellent remuneration, a high-performance culture, with challenging and exciting work.

Duties

Working alongside the head of Long-Term analysis, the Long Term analyst will:

  • Develop expertise in our forecasting methodology in order to automate existing tasks and develop new models for our forecasts.
  • Assist in the preparation of published materials ranging from text-based alerts, to charts and slides for presentations and publications.
  • Take a lead in our data visualisation project, assisting with the publication of data to our client API and the implementation of visualisation tools for our web portal.
  • Be responsible for data quality both for our internal models as well as for client-facing deliverables

Requirements

This position requires the following:

  • An understanding of energy market fundamentals.
  • Experience working with data and building and maintaining complex models, working with statistical tools and regression modelling.
  • Strong analytical and data-handling skills, including being able to select and use the most appropriate software for a task.
  • Good technical written skills, preferably including writing reports for a non-technical audience.
  • The ability to meet deadlines and work effectively with others, including colleagues in different time zones, to deliver timely analysis will be critical.
  • Attention to detail is a prerequisite for this role in both handling data and written English.

Desirable skills

  • Basic Python programming skills or familiarity with data handling software.
  • Econometrics modelling experience (Eviews or similar package).
