The Opportunity:

Our Water Team provide hydrogeological expertise to a broad range of projects within the UK and overseas. In the UK, the Water Team supports planning and environmental permit applications for a wide range of developments including, but not limited to, quarries, landfills and residential developments.

Projects include preparing EIA water resources chapters, WFD assessments, landfill HRAs and dewatering schemes, as well as being involved in a wide variety of niche projects. Recent projects have included a number of abstraction licence applications, work for developments including groundwater conceptualisations and supporting site investigations, monitoring and risk assessment for new developments and groundwater control and dewatering. We have an in-house team of water quality specialists who are undertaking a variety of studies for public (EA) and private sector clients.

Overseas, we help mining companies with mine-water control design, water resource assessments, adherence to water stewardship and a variety of other support on Feasibility Studies and, Environmental and Social Impact Assessments. We have a number of major mine-water studies ongoing including numerical groundwater modelling, water balance and hydrogeochemistry projects for a variety of commodities and geographical locations.

The Water Team is looking to expand the technical team capacity to facilitate its continued success and like to recruit an experienced Hydrogeologist at Senior or Principal level

As a key member of a small team you would have multiple responsibilities and be exposed to a mix of UK-based fieldwork, data analysis and modelling activities.

A successful candidate will require:

Field experience of (or willingness to learn) different drilling techniques in a variety of geological settings.
Field experience of (or willingness to learn) the collection of groundwater and surface water samples as well as hydraulic parameters.
Working knowledge of analytical and numerical groundwater modelling techniques with high numeracy and quantitative analytical ability.
Knowledge of and familiarity with quarrying, mining and landfills is an advantage.
A relevant undergraduate degree in the geological or environmental sciences, or similar.
A relevant post-graduate hydrogeological qualification.
Familiarity with GIS and ability to edit and develop geomatic materials.
A full driving license and the ability to drive for business purposes is essential.
