Smoking Cessation Advisor

Job summary

The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAH) is looking to appoint a Smoking Cessation Advisor .

This post holder is responsible for meeting the objectives defined in the Tobacco Dependence Delivery Model defined by NHSE.

You will be expected to take an active role in the department, ensure that all Smoking Dependence data metrics for the Acute ward are obtained and delivered.

To support the mobilisation and delivery of the Tobacco Dependence programme.

Main duties of the job

To work across adult in-patient wards under the supervision of the Tobacco Dependency Lead, undertaking tobacco dependence assessments, educating service users about options to manage their tobacco dependence differently.

To play a key role with a wide multidisciplinary team, to raise awareness of the harm from tobacco and the affects on long term physical health.

To support the priorities of the Princess Alexandra Hospital Trust in relation to this project, working with departments across PAH to secure a collective approach to smoking cessation and smoke free hospitals.

To build and maintain excellent relationships with all members of the multidisciplinary team, working with them and communicating effectively to deliver high quality patient care. To engage fully in development of services, driving forward innovations to meet the anticipated future

The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAHT) provides a full range of general acute, outpatient and diagnostic services at The Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow, the Herts and Essex Hospital in Bishop's Stortford, and St Margaret's Hospital in Epping.

Education and Qualification

Essential

Educated to A level or equivalent demonstrable experience Ability to successfully complete National Centre for Smoking Cessation Training

Desirable

Smoking Cessation Qualification

Experience

Essential

Experience of working in a health promotion and delivering campaigns Experience of working in an engagement focused role Proven experience of working in an administrator role

Desirable

Experience of providing smoking cessation support or supporting people with behavioural change

Skills and Knowledge

Essential

An awareness of understanding the drivers of ill health, especially smoking Ability to use electronic information and computer technology Excellent IT skills Ability to cope under pressure with high levels of concentration Able to deliver presentations on Smoking cessation
