Responsibilities

RF Design engineer with proven practical design experience for cutting edge defence products. You'll be working on the research, design and testing of cutting-edge radio-frequency technology for integration into complex weapons systems, with a focus on utilising your hands on experience to carry out modifications or rapid prototypes where required.

Qualifications

BSc in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent. A lower-level qualification such as HNC would be acceptable with significant demonstrable relevant experience performing the same/similar work

Essential Skills

Proven practical RF (component level) design and testing of RF circuits across a wide frequency range (eg, 30MHz to 30GHz, including LNA Amplifier, High Power Amplifier, filter, local oscillator, synthesiser, modulator design etc) Excellent practical skills including soldering, fault finding and the use of RF test equipment including Spectrum Analysers, Power Meters & VNAs Ability to perform design proving tests and trials in the onsite laboratory Good knowledge of digital, analogue and power supply design Fully conversant with manufacturing techniques and capabilities, including design for manufacture and test Computer literate, Microsoft Windows, Office with particular emphasis on Word & Excel Great communication skills with ability to communicate at all levels of the business modifying the tone and message according to the audience

Experience

Minimum of 5 years (10 preferred) demonstrable relevant experience RF design experience for harsh environments (EMC, vibration, thermal) Experience using RF design tools (eg Microwave Office), including layout. Working as part of a team or under own initiative as needed Hands on testing PCB Rework

What do I need before I apply

Candidate should be able/prepared to work at our client’s site in Stevenage hold existing SC clearance, and due to security restrictions be a UK National
