Description Gordon Brothers has a tremendous opportunity to join a high performing team of seasoned professionals in our Real Estate department. The Senior Director, Real Estate role is based in London and reports to Mark Newton-Jones, Senior Managing Director, EMEA. This role is responsible for assisting clients in evaluating remarketing methods for various types of real estate assets. As the Senior Director, Real Estate, you will provide strategic property advice and lead on all aspects related to transactions in real estate projects located throughout the United Kingdom and broader EMEA region. The Senior Director, Real Estate will be responsible for sourcing, screening, underwriting, writing the internal investment memorandum, managing due diligence activities, closing, asset managing for Gordon Brothers.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Corporate Recovery, Valuations and C&I departments on evaluating opportunities where owned real estate is included.  Responsibilities will include a valuation of the real estate, creation of a strategic plan for the property, and execution of all aspects of the strategic plan once the property is owned by GB.   Periodic communication with the other divisions along the way will be required.

  • Lead Real Estate Team on efficient structuring, analysis and execution of deals based on a cross-divisional and end-to-end approach to maximize deal profits.

  • Provide property market baseline, valuation and financial viability advice.

  • Issue planning appeals/ inquiries, when required.

  • Evaluate, underwrite and recommend appropriate investment opportunities.

  • Understand and communicate the viability of a real estate asset based on property and market fundamentals and historical operations.

  • Identify and communicate risk and reward in each investment opportunity, prepare an action plan for each investment and price such risk accordingly.

  • Lead transaction negotiation, documentation and closing in conjunction with the legal team.

  • Research and evaluate market and industry data/trends to build and frame the team’s viewpoint on the appropriate risk/return metrics for new opportunities.

  • Play an integral role in the development of the wider EMEA team, through setting high standards, being a role model, influencing, and team building.

  • Manage, mentor and provide leadership to the Real Estate team - set objectives, run performance reviews, ensure their development and making sure the team are achieving targets.

  • Maintain relationships with the business development members of the other teams at GB to keep them abreast and to provide mutual referrals.

  • Other duties as needed and assigned.

Education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate related field required.

  • Proficiency in relevant real estate software and well versed in real estate industry tools.

  • Existing contacts in the United Kingdom regional markets..

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Proven experience in acquisition and disposal of commercial buildings and residential and commercial development sites.

  • Strong experience with valuations, strategic property planning.

  • Previous experience in managing a team.

  • Must have a strong track record of success and possess a strong work ethic.

  • Must demonstrate strong financial skills and a solid understanding of real estate accounting principles and possess advanced market research skills. Ability to evaluate real estate and real estate markets.

  • Detailed knowledge of mortgage loan documentation, analysis, and legal issues.

  • Knowledge of alternative investments and relative value.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with senior leaders and colleagues at all levels of an organisation.

  • Strong credit skills, ability to assess the functional design of real estate assets, analyse historical financial and economic performance and have experience in preparing property valuations.

  • Strong negotiation skills. High achiever with drive to succeed, with the ability to act collaboratively, whilst playing a key role.
