We’re re-examining our vehicles and what a vehicle means in the emerging world of automation, connectedness, electrification and the shared economy. New ideas, new technology, and new approaches to mobility are our business. Join a team of next generation thinkers.

WHAT TO EXPECT

As a Senior Deployment and Kinematics Design Engineer, you will be welcomed into the Display and HUD Products Squad, a small team of diverse and passionate engineers (part of User Controls within the Digital Product Platform), dedicated to the design and creation of our next generation, cutting edge display technologies that fulfil the modern luxury brief. This includes centre displays, instrument clusters, head-up displays, rear entertainment systems and any other display applications. Within this team, the successful candidate will work alongside the Displays Product Owner to define, develop, and launch display products for Jaguar Land Rover’s flagship vehicle lines.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

Simulation of mechanical interactions, ensuring all requirements are considered and to allow visualisation of motion paths and supporting the modelling of mechanical load cases (push/pull, head impact, vibration, NVH). Designing interfaces to support and protect sensitive display panels in accordance with the guidelines from the supplier of the panel and design to meet NVH operational sound quality targets. Integrate motors, sensors and other hardware to support the error-free deployment of displays and manage design verification test plans, including detailed planning of test and development stages through to sign off and support engineering test teams with rectification of issues. Support the planning, co-ordination, delivery and reporting of requirements to support programmes and Cycle Plan studies, using our Product Creation Delivery System (PCDS) in conjunction with Agile methodologies.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

In order to be considered for this position the successful candidate needs to have experience of designing to withstand (and subsequent simulation to validate) static and dynamic mechanical load cases for automotive applications and experience of simulating mechanical interactions for automotive electronics and mechanical hardware.

Essential

Working knowledge of motor integration, fixing methods and complex dynamic mechanical systems and using simulation data to guide engineering judgements.  Experience of CATIA or other equivalent CAD packages. Working knowledge of LS Dyna, Abaqus, Hypermesh or other relevant FEA suites. Experience of designing motorised deployment mechanisms.  A practitioner of quality methods like, 8D, Failure Mode Effect Analysis, Failure Modes Effects and Diagnostic Analysis or Fault Tree Analysis.
