We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Yard Manager to join our team. This permanent position is well suited to an individual looking to advance their equine career and gain hands-on experience in a thriving and supportive workplace. Managing a team of about 12 staff and being a member of the committee, you will have direct input into the running of the Club. The Yard Manager is responsible for the routine management and operation of the Club, including the delivery of riding lessons.

The person. We are looking for someone who has experience managing a busy yard and who is also a qualified and experienced rider/instructor. You must enjoy working with people, and horses, be reliable and passionate about your job.

The commitment. This will be a full-time, live out position with your regular days off being flexible to fit with the Club’s commitments and activities, including delivery of lessons on Saturdays and running events on Sundays (averaging twice a month for the majority of the year). The Club’s ambition is to develop sufficient income to be able to afford a full working week of 40 hours over 5 days, including a daily 30 minute lunch break. However, initially the role is offered at 28 hours over 3½ days, with the expectation the successful candidate will be able to commit to the full 5 days when financial conditions allow. We believe the Yard Manager will be critical to developing increased revenue and efficiency, thereby being central to their own success in securing the additional 1½ days of employment.

Requirements

Essential:•British Horse Society Stage 3 or above.•Management (business, personnel, finance).•In date first aid certificate and Enhanced DBS check (with barring) .Desirable:•Understanding of the military.•IT literate, comfortable with Microsoft Office 365 applications.•Knowledge of social media platforms, including Facebook and Instagram

The Yard Manager must be competent in the management of horses, staff, grassland and other resources relevant to the effective running of the Club. It is essential the Yard Manager is business orientated, with a view to increasing revenue and managing costs, and is genuinely invested in the interests of the Club.
