Job summary

Saxmundham Health has an exciting opportunity for a hardworking, enthusiastic and innovative medicines management technician or pharmacy technician to join our team while one of our pharmacy technicians is on maternity leave. This role is offered on apart-time basis between 20-30 hours per week. You will be joining a friendly, supportive and dedicated team on a 12 month fixed term contract basis.

The successful candidate will benefit from this opportunity to build up strong working relationships, across our organisation, and will be actively involved in how their role evolves over time.

Main duties of the job

Clinical:

Effective medicines use - shared decision making with patients Medicines optimisation tasks - inhaler technique, support medication reviews, medicines reconciliation New care home patients - reconciliation and synchronisation when transferred between settings Refer suitable identified patients for structured medication reviews Lifestyle advice and tackling health inequalities Support shared care protocols Support initiatives for antimicrobial stewardship Support drug monitoring and safe authorisation of repeat medications

Technical:

Assist in dispensary when needed Ensure efficient medicines optimisation and reduce waste Support electronic transfer of prescriptions process Supervise reception teams re. prescription requests Support national and local prescribing policies, safe repeat prescribing, management of high risk medicines and patient safety audits

Qualifications

Essential

Hold a BTEC/NVQ Level 2 or 3 in pharmacy services, or equivalent

Desirable

Be a registered Pharmacy Technician with the GPhC

Experience

Essential

Have strong experience in either a community pharmacy or a primary care setting Be confident in analysing and presenting information to health professionals Have experience of implementing and promoting cost-effective strategies Have the ability to interpret complex clinical information and present it in suitable formats, to a variety of people from professional and non-professional backgrounds
