We are set in a beautiful semi-rural Victorian market town in the Pennines, with excellent transport links between Leeds and Manchester.

We are a forward thinking GMS training Practice with approximately 13500 patients and aim to provide high quality care for our traditional community. We hold a CQC rating of GOOD.

We are located within impressive, spacious modern premises with a wide array of clinical facilities and Multi-disciplinary team onsite.

We are part of Upper Calder Valley PCN and collectively we offer a lot of additional services to help us support our population holistically.

We are currently looking to recruit an additional HCA due to a significant expansion of our practice patient list.

Main duties of the job

Job Purpose

To work alongside the clinicians in the provision of patient care. To provide comprehensive health checks such as BP, Height, Weight, Peak flow, ECG, chaperoning. Be able to provide phlebotomy, B12, Flu, and other imms as directed.

Close knit, friendly team of 4 partners, 4 salaried GP and a fantastic nursing team of 7, supported by the Patient Service Advisors and Management team.

We work closely with our PCN colleagues including, Clinical Pharmacist, Pharmacy technicians, Care Co-ordinators, Social Prescribers, First Contact Physio's and Podiatrist.

We have a strong track record of staff retention.

Job responsibilities

CLINICAL PRACTICE

Clinical Care Undertake and record the following tasks using setprotocols:

Phlebotomy BP checks Peak Flow measurements ECG recording Height, Weight, Urines Chaperoning B12 Injections in Adults following completion of recognised course. Flu injections in Adults Following completion of recognised course. Pneumococcal Injections in Adults Following completion of recognised course. Ear Syringing Following completion of recognised course. Shingles vaccine for certain age groups Following completion of recognised course. Wound care and assessment of wounds following recognised course.

Recognise changes in the patients observations, which must be reportedand acted on.

Assist clinicians in emergency management of patients.

Enable patients to access appropriate professionals in practice team.

Appreciate the principals of Healthy Living.

Provide relevant health promotion literature for patients.

Care and Management

Ensure stock items are ordered and provided in GP and treatment rooms.

Maintain clinical equipment efficiently and ensure servicing isundertaken.

Follow infection control standards.

Contribute new ideas to improve patient care.

Instruct patients in appropriate techniques or tasks.

Work efficiently in a team.

Interact with patients and colleagues in a professional manner.

Maintain/set standards of organisation in treatment rooms/Practice.

Take appropriate action if standards are not being met.

Recognise potential areas of conflict, preventing where possible andreporting to senior member of staff if unable to resolve.

SpecialRequirements of the Post

An understanding, acceptance and adherence to the need for strictconfidentiality.

An ability to use own judgement, resourcefulness, common sense andlocal knowledge, to respond to patients enquiries and requests.

Excellent communication skills.

Keyboard skills essential, computer literacy preferred.
