Outreach and Peer Development Recovery Coordinator

About the role:
To deliver effective engagement, harm reduction and recovery focussed interventions as required for service users presenting with a range of drug and alcohol and offending problems in both a community and prison settings Provide an arrest referral service ensuring a seamless link between police/prison custody suites, prison and the community. Provide structured group work to clients, using evidence-based programmes including SMART Recovery and Foundations of Recovery, as well as drug awareness sessions, harm reduction and acupuncture. Provide Assertive Outreach to service user’s locale, homes accommodation and the local community when appropriate and support to appointments to ensure social inclusion and maximise engagement Provide Naloxone and Injecting Equipment Provision as part of a wider harm reduction package. Manage referrals of individuals seen at the police station or referred by police or custody nurses. Support peer initiatives and service user feedback Act as link between the service and the recovery communities within Edinburgh.About you:
Excellent understanding of drug and alcohol issues and experience of working in the criminal justice or related field An in-depth understanding and knowledge of the harmful effects associated with drug misuse and offending in relation to health, social welfare, housing, employability and personal relationships The ability to work unsociable hours as and when required. Be an excellent communicator, both verbal and written with good IT skills Proactive and able to work on own initiative with excellent time management and prioritising skills Have a good working knowledge of mental health interventions, services, and good practice Be a supportive team player with strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in partnership with a wide range of professionals, agencies, and internal/external stakeholders Ability to manage change successfully in a way that prioritises the needs of service users Understand the importance of information governance processes and commit to follow and apply all necessary safeguards Seek out learning opportunities to improve and broaden your professional knowledge and skills and to contribute and oversee the learning and development of othersWhat we will give to you:
