Job Description

We are looking for enthusiastic, talented and highly motivated Principle Palynologist to join our Geology team based in North Wales 

Reporting to the Geoscience Team Lead, the successful candidate will leverage their geoscience skills to generate and interpret geological data, compile and synthesize results, and contribute to exciting projects in a multi-disciplinary team environment. Utilizing stratigraphic knowledge, the candidate will employ various techniques and processes to enhance project outcomes.

We are looking for individuals who are intuitive, inquisitive, and committed to continuously improving interpretations and processes. The ideal candidate must be proficient in applying a range of techniques, software, and processes related to Palynology and Stratigraphy, demonstrating the ability to independently generate and interpret data and prepare professional reports in their specific discipline.

Principle Accountabilities 

Apply geoscience skills and palynological knowledge to analyze and interpret geological data across diverse geographies and stratigraphic ages. Independently review and integrate biostratigraphic data, providing insightful interpretations and sequence stratigraphic correlations using software like Stratabugs and IC. Lead the strategic integration of AI/ML technologies into fossil identification and interpretation workflows. Create professional reports summarizing findings, delivering valuable insights into basin evolution, regional geology, stratigraphy, and palynology. Collaborate effectively with colleagues in various technical disciplines, including seismic interpretation, to gain comprehensive subsurface insights. Coordinate and manage projects involving diverse data sets and stakeholders, ensuring adherence to deadlines and objectives. Demonstrate exceptional research skills, actively engaging with current geoscience topics and applying knowledge to practical solutions. Mentor and coach junior staff, fostering their professional development. Stay at the forefront of the field by identifying and implementing data and technology advancements that optimize processes and drive commercial success. Possess a deep understanding of the energy sector, with a particular focus on the ongoing energy transition. Lead wellsite palynology assignments, managing logistics and effectively communicating with the onsite team. Develop and deliver training programs for both internal and external audiences. Contribute to business development initiatives for CGG, leveraging expertise to secure new opportunities.

The position requires occasional business-related travel.

Qualifications

Educated to Degree, Masters or PhD degree level in any of the following disciplines:  Geology or Stratigraphy
