Key Accountabilities:

Delivers courses in the theoretical and practical aspects of operating, maintaining, repairing and programming advanced electronic systems such as those utilized in support of the Air Navigational Service. Develops courses; prepares lesson plans and lecture notes; prepares theory and practical exercises; prepares handouts and / or training aids; designs tests and associated marking guides. Leads / participates in special projects, working groups and focus groups providing specialized technical knowledge and experience. Participates in course design activities such as task analysis and training objectives, creation of the course training plan, and determining work experience requirements.

Education/Occupational Certification:

Secondary school diploma and completion of an acceptable training program in electronics technology or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience relevant to the position.

Experience:

3-5 years experience in the maintenance and/or installation of the electronic equipment and systems that are currently used by NAV CANADA. Experience with coaching and teaching technical information to adults is an asset.

Knowledge: (30%)

Knowledge of technical course design, instructional techniques, student academic counselling, measurement and testing. Knowledge of electronic theory, computer systems, and network management. In depth knowledge of electronic theory. In depth knowledge of electronic systems such as CNS / ATM equipment, networking technology and computer controlled systems. Knowledge of project management, business and operational planning.

Abilities: (30%)

Skills in maintaining, installing, operating, troubleshooting, configuring, repairing, testing, and calibrating electronic systems. Skills in teaching complex theory, systems and related practices and standards in preparing instructional material. Skills in developing and evaluating the effectiveness of courses on complex systems.

Personal Suitability: (40%)

Skills in communicating orally and in writing in a clear and concise manner. Ability to work effectively with personnel of widely varying levels of knowledge and experience including individuals from other ANSPs. Initiative and co-operation in meeting deadlines/goals. Patience, perseverance, and thoroughness.

Working Conditions:

There will be requirements to travel to difference sites from time to time. Work location is NAV Centre which is within the Dev Hotel and conference centre in Cornwall. This position has been classified as Hybrid.  This position is moving from Cornwall to Ottawa in the next 3-5 years.
