Job Summary

Role: Consultant

Specialty:Â Locum Microbiology Consultant

Dates: ASAP for 3-6 months (to be extended thereafter if desired)

Shift:Â Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm

Duties will be:

• Take calls for microbiology, virology, and infection control advice from primary and secondary care
• Respond to email enquiries from the same sources
• Review and calling out of blood cultures (day 1 and ongoing daily as required until completion)
• Review and validation of bacteriology and virology results
• Assessment of test requests where consultant input is required
• Liaison with Infection Control and the Health Protection Team as required
• Daily ICU ward round

Essential requirement:

• MBBS or equivalent medical degree
• FRCPath or equivalent
• Full registration with the GMC (GMC Specialist Registration would be preferred but not essential)
• Right to work in the UK
