The post starts in August 2024 for a fixed term of 12 months

A candidate who is unable for personal reasons to undertake the duties of a whole-time post will receive equal consideration. If such a candidate is appointed, the job content will be modified as appropriate in consultation with consultant colleagues and local management.

Main duties of the job

Duties are shared with the FY2, CMT and ST doctors working in the department.

Duties include:

With the existing FY and CMT doctors, provide junior doctor cover for haematology inpatients

Attend to patients who self-refer via the acute haematology service

Medical cover for patients attending the Weybourne day unit and VTE clinic

Weekly procedure list for bone marrows and line removal (training will be given)

Participation in departmental clinical governance and quality activities

The post has no on call commitments.

There is a weekly morphology (blood film) meeting. In addition, the department has monthly journal club and guideline of the month meetings, which the post holder is encouraged to attend.
