Working in the Permitting & Regulatory Support Team, you will make a vital contribution to the environmental regulation and compliance of operational activities that can affect the environment. You will lead a team of technical specialists who are passionate about the Air & waste Permitting Sector.
You will have the opportunity to utilise your knowledge of this sector and contribute to the delivery of Air & Waste Permitting.
What you’ll be doing as an Environmental Permitting manager (air/waste)
  • Prioritise work within your team, including identifying opportunities for team development and escalating risks when necessary.
  • Ensure that the Company has all the necessary Air and Waste Environmental Permits in place 
  • Support in the delivery of the Industrial Emissions Directive - Anaerobic Digestion Sludge Centre Permitting.
Understand and interpret environmental legislation, Environment Agency or Industry guidance and apply it to operational situations such as new site investment & emerging technologies.
  • Ensure Compliance Assessment Reports are reviewed and responded to within the required timescales.
  • Ensure any requests for information relating to environmental permits, applications for permits, or Regulatory returns are provided to the Environment Agency within the required timescales.
  • Led the team in the negotiation with the Environment Agency regarding new environmental permits relating to any changes to existing permits whilst ensuring the interests of the company are protected.
  • Produce written papers or slide decks to brief internal stakeholders Senior Manager & the Exec.
Remote work format with occasional visits to the office in Reading approx. once a month 
Please note, that the internal title for this role is "Installations Manager".
What you should bring to the role
  • Solid background in people management 
  • Good knowledge of  environmental legislation  with a proven ability to understand & interpret environmental legislation & guidance and effectively communicate key messages
  • You must possess excellent communication and influencing skills as a big part of this role will be liaising with external parties and across different levels of stakeholders within the business, especially the Environment Agency. 
  • Preferably educated to Degree level (or equivalent) in a scientific or environmental discipline.
