Utilities Lead

Hours: 37 p/week Monday Friday.

Location: Hybrid role - working from home and visits to practices

Salary: Competitive salary

This is an exciting time for mydentist, as we work towards implementation of our digital transformation, part of which includes Utilities Management. As an experienced Utilities SME, you will play a pivotal role providing direction to the Property & Finance team, developing and embedding our overall Utilities strategy and governance and driving improvements to our overall cost control within his area. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with relevant knowledge and experience to help lead the development, innovation, and delivery of the Utilities function. As a Utilities Lead, your role will include:


  • Budget Management
    • Assume accountability for the Utilities discipline within the Profit and Loss statements of individual Mydentist sites.
    • Collaborate with individual practices to develop strategies addressing both high and low consumption, optimising overall energy usage.
    • Site visits as appropriate to support operational colleagues with energy consumption to drive best practice
    • Manage meter reading collation to support/ enable accurate billing/ accruals, including sourcing and uploading manual meter reads


  • Invoice management
    • Review / validate utilities invoices - Provide oversight to the Purchase Ledger team for accurate bill payments, collaborate with Management Accounts to conduct meticulous analysis of utility expenditure.
    • Undertake comprehensive data analysis of utility metrics, identifying trends to enhance overall operational efficiency
    • Supervise utility contracts and collaborate with the broker to ensure effective procurement and management.


  • Support ESG Chair with Green Forum/ sustainability initiatives within mydentist
    • Assume a leadership role in driving green initiatives, sustainability efforts, and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives
    • Offer assistance in the preparation for upcoming tenders related to utilities and energy management
    • Foster and champion innovation within the utilities sector, including advancements in water bills and gas bills


  • Internal and external stakeholder management
    • Facilities external communication with 3rd party energy management company and Utilities providers
    • Internal communication with Finance, Property and Operational colleagues
    • Establish communication channels with landlords (LL) to address queries outside the primary contract, particularly concerning service charges.
    • Provide administration around progressing queries
