This is an opportunity to work alongside some of the most talented and ambitious students in the highly respected Department of Illustration Animation, which includes BA Illustration Animation, BA Interaction Design, MA Illustration, and MA Animation. We are looking for a lecturer to teach digital animation, 3D animation, animation for games, and/or immersive technologies to students across the BA Illustration Animation and MA Animation courses. The successful candidate will be expected to coordinate, organise, and manage projects, delivering instruction through workshops, tutorials, seminars, reviews, and assessments.

We seek candidates with a creative practice in 3D digital animation who are eager to explore experimental and pioneering teaching methods, as well as applied and critical approaches to developing digital technologies. This position will make use of the new Immersive Lab at KSA, along with existing moving image workshop facilities. The role will support students in applying new and emerging technologies within the context of Illustration Animation, with a particular focus on storytelling and narrative development.

As a lecturer in Illustration Animation, the successful candidate will also have pastoral responsibilities. Candidates must be able to support students for whom English is not their first language and should be committed to fostering inclusive and anti-racist strategies for teaching and learning. Additionally, they will contribute to curriculum development within the field of Illustration Animation.

The Person

We’re looking for an innovative individual with a commitment and passion for teaching and learning in Illustration Animation. The successful candidate will hold an undergraduate degree in Illustration and/or Animation, with a Higher Degree or Research Degree being desirable. They should have an established or emerging profile in research, enterprise, and/or professional practice.

The candidate will have experience in delivering quality teaching, assessment, feedback, and tutoring to a diverse range of students at the higher education level, whether on a permanent, fractional, or hourly paid contract. They will also be an excellent communicator and collaborator, able to work effectively within diverse teams.

The School is comprised of the Department of 3D Design, the Department of Fashion, the Department of Graphic Design, and the Department of Illustration Animation. The School attracts five applicants for every student place and enjoys worldwide recognition.
