Borough Lead for Kingston MHST

Mental Health Support Teams in Schools (MHSTs) are an exciting development, located in schools and AFC offices and provide a whole school approach to mental health; including individual and group work with students and parents, staff training and consultation and policy and ethos advice. The team is part of the broader Emotional Health Service (EHS) and links closely with AFC’s other education and social care teams.

The salary shown is the FTE, this will be pro rata to the number of hours for this part-time position.

About the role

As the Principal Clinical Lead for the Kingston MHST you will be passionate about improving the mental health of children and young people and putting them at the heart of decision making and everything you do. This role would complement a part-time 8A MHST post and is intended to support the development of leadership skills.

You will work in partnership with the MHST Head of Service. You will assume some aspects of strategic leadership at the direction of the MHST Head of Service and in collaboration with the ICB, NHS England and Health Education England. When required, you may be asked to cover the Head of Service in meetings. The post holder will be expected to be dynamic, creative and innovative to ensure effective and impactful delivery of services. The post holder will receive line management within the service alongside CPD opportunities.

About you

Postgraduate mental health qualification e.g PsychD Clinical / Counseling Psychology, MSc Systemic Psychotherapy, MSc Art Psychotherapy. Significant experience of working within CAMHS and MHSTs and working with mental health difficulties including ADHD and ASD. Proven ability to undertake assessments of emotional well-being and risk assessments. Significant knowledge and experience in delivering evidenced-based treatment for a range of mental health difficulties. Significant experience of providing line management, managing performance and clinical supervision to other qualified staff. Significant experience of providing consultation and training to a wide range of professionals.
