About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the BSI Knowledge Solution Finance team as Senior Finance Analyst reporting into the Financial Controller.

The focus for the role of Senior Finance Analyst is supporting the Financial Controller with the management of risk and controls for the Knowledge Solutions business and the financial and reporting management of the funding provided to BSI by the DBT (Department for Business and Trade) in support of standardization.

The DBT is standardization's advocate in Whitehall and responsible for UK Government policy on all matters relating to standards-making, accreditation, and conformity assessment. DBT sponsor and work closely with the British Standards Institution (BSI) as the UK’s National Standards Body (NSB).

This is a pinnacle role to support the Financial Controller in the provision of both risk and controls governance for the division.

The role will have financial and reporting accountability for UK government funded projects, most notably with DBT.

Responsibilities:

This dual role offers great exposure within the business working across governance, risk, controls, operations, and within the wider finance team.

There is day to day interaction at both Executive and delivery levels within BSI and DBT. You will maintain and continue to develop internal processes and reporting to provide robust governance over how we win and deliver funding.

A firm focus on the financial robustness and clear reporting of this is crucial to the role. You will also support the Financial Controller with ownership of tasks that underpin the finance framework for control and governance within BSI.

Funding responsibilities

Accountability for all funding related finances (off ledger and on ledger), including but not limited to - revenue recognition, cost tracking and recognition, accurate balance sheet position reporting with supporting documentation.

Secretariat & reporting

Provision of secretariat service (meeting agenda, scheduling, minutes) for meetings Production of timely & accurate performance tracking reports annually as per our GFA requirement.

Interactions

Act as central BSI Knowledge Solutions contact point for:

BSI Finance Shared Service Centre, where the role oversees processing of funded travel schemes and balance sheet completion and review. Assistant Director of Hallmarking, Standards & Accreditation in the UK Government Department for Business and Trade (DBT) Effective collaboration with the Government and Industry Engagement Director to deliver and prioritise proposals for funded programmes of work in line with strategic objectives and governance requirements. Manage relationships with BSI project owners in the Standards Services and Consultancy operations team to secure commitment to delivery of individual projects to budget, schedule and scope. Deputising for the Financial Controller when required.

To be successful in the role, you will have: 

Educated to degree level or equivalent Qualified by experience / Qualified to accountancy qualification level (CIMA, ACA or ACCA) is ideal Experience of funding agreements and controls and governance is advantageous Evidence of delivery of results by effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders Proven ability to assimilate and analyse a wide variety of information quickly and effectively Strong programme management, project management & administrative skills with excellent attention to detail SAP knowledge is desirable
