Paisley, United Kingdom NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde Full time

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

The shift pattern is 9/5

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week. If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.

The sucessful candidate will provide a high quality, efficient and effective Radiology service to the population of Clyde and surrounding areas, and areas covered by extra tertiary referrals. Diagnostic imaging equipment is used to carry out Radiological examinations on patients, and reports are provided to referring clinicians, which assists the clinician in providing a diagnosis of the patient’s condition in order to decide on an effective course of treatment and care. Interventional Radiology is carried out to assist in the treatment of a patient’s condition. The Department’s clinical governance strategy ensures a high standard of care for patients undergoing Radiological examinations, and promotes multidisciplinary team working.

Imaging examinations use highly dangerous radiations. It is the post holder’s responsibility to minimise radiation dose and risks to patients, staff, relatives, general public and self. This minimises the risk to current and future generations. Images must be suitable for diagnosis before the patient leaves the department. Senior Radiographers are required to take responsibility for the organisation of staff breaks and workload allocation in the absence of a more Senior member of staff. The most Senior Radiographer on duty is in charge of the Imaging service delivery during out of hours work.
