Overview of role

Location: Stevenage

The role of a Multi-Skilled Day Engineer is a varied and challenging one. You will be expected to identify and deliver continuous improvement initiatives alongside proactive and reactive maintenance and repairs to the plant and site services associated with a major bakery.

Key Accountabilities

To provide engineering resource in carrying out planned maintenance, breakdown repairs, refurbishment, installation, improvements and modification or upgrade to plant and services in order to minimise downtime and maintain the equipment in the best possible condition. To strive towards continuous improvement of all machinery and equipment in order to effectively reduce engineering downtime, thereby maintaining plant availability, efficiency, productivity and product quality. To carry out all engineering work to high Engineering, Quality, Safety and Hygienic standards. Deliver turn-key improvement projects in a timely and cost-efficient manner. Completion of fabrication, plant maintenance and facilities based tasks associated to an industrial manufacturing environment.  The role holder will be involved in dealing with employees at all levels of the business and liaising with different departments as needed.

A team player Excellent communication skills Able to train, coach and assist operators and other engineers. Proficiency in MIG, TIG and traditional welding along with general fabrication techniques. Enthusiastic and motivated, with a passion for continuous improvement. Be flexible and co-operative to assist in meeting business needs.
