The Role

This position offers an exceptional opportunity to become an integral part of the head office campus operation.  You will be a key member of the facilities team with the challenge of ensuring the offices, car parks and landscaping are maintained to the highest standard and always kept fully operational.  In addition, the management of our catering, vending, postal services, and Electric Vehicle charging services suppliers.

The Facilities team will be responsible for managing suppliers and services for our new ‘hub’ building at our Bury office campus. The hub building is presently under development, but is scheduled to include a creche, summer school, indoor and outdoor fitness facilities in addition to enhanced conference, café and restaurant services.

The role shall support the development of the JD campus to meet our aspiration of offering community events, regular use of the outdoor sports facilities, and summer school.

Additional support for nearby support locations (Sharp Project Studios in Manchester) may be required from time to time.

Key Role Responsibilities:

  • Working as a member of the Facilities team ensuring that a safe, comfortable and productive work environment is provided to all colleagues across the campus site.
  • Supporting in the management of a comprehensive, multi-disciplined planned preventative and reactive maintenance regime for current and future campus site.
  • Acting as a key point of contact for all hard/soft services for colleagues and contractors across the campus.
  • Assessing work requirements, identifying correct trade requirements and instructing work.
  • Supporting the Facilities and wider Property team with the implementation of our Emergency Preparedness Plan.
  • Administration, processing and first stage approval for reactive maintenance invoices.
  • Administration of electronic records, systems and documents.
  • Support the Facilities Manager in managing a small team of Building Services Technicians.
  • Active involvement in the development of the services offered across the Campus.
  • Working with external supplier account managers for services including but not limited to cafe and vending, outsourced postal services, management of concierge and lounge teams, nursery care provider, and suppliers for ad-hoc events.
  • Support all departments in facilitating floor changes and desk moves.
  • Work closely with the Group Health and Safety team to ensure a safe working environment.

Key skills/requirements:

  • Proven experience of working within a facilities team at a large campus site.
  • Relationship-building, communication and the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Procurement and negotiation.
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of the need to ensure and demonstrate value for money.
  • Capable of prioritising whilst working on multiple projects.
  • Strong verbal communication and clear and concise writing skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously, independently and utilise creative problem-solving skills.
  • Good IT skills and knowledge of MS Office.
  • A practical, flexible and innovative approach to work.
