Job summary

We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic pharmacist to contribute to the care of patients admitted to our emergency department and acute medical unit, with a particular focus on the emergency department.

You will be joining a small, friendly and well respected team working across the emergency floor at Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford (part of Mid and South Essex Hospitals NHS Trust).

Main duties of the job

You based at the Broomfield University Hospital site, will be an integral member of the multi-disciplinary team, working to provide excellent care to patients in acute and emergency medicine.

You will help to improve patient care through effective medicines reconciliation and medicines optimisation. The role will also include ensuring protocols and guidelines are in line with local and national objectives to ensure cost-effective and safe prescribing within the department.

You will have excellent communication and negotiating skills working closely with patients and multiprofessional teams throughout the Emergency Village. You will be able to work under pressure and alone with excellent prioritisation skills.

You will ideally be (or working towards being) a qualified independent prescriber having achieved a minimum of a clinical diploma in pharmacy practice.

The successful applicant will contribute to the 7 day clinical pharmacy service to the emergency floor, which will involve working weekends (8am to 4pm) with flexible days off during the week in return.

The successful candidate will be encouraged to complete a non-medical prescribing qualification to support the service if this has not already been undertaken.
