Are you looking for an internship that will enable you to apply your degree practically in a variety of different market areas, from healthcare to satellite communications? If so, then our year in industry placement is the perfect opportunity.
TTP is an independent technology consulting company where scientists and engineers collaborate to invent, design, and develop new products and technologies. We partner with the world’s most ambitious companies to address diverse, deep technology problems that enable advanced products and make a difference to people’s lives.
Read our case studies to find out more here.
As TTP is a multi-disciplinary environment, you will work alongside talented people from a wide range of academic backgrounds – from biologists to engineers to physicists – getting to learn from them, whilst also making your own mark on projects.
This internship at TTP offers you the opportunity to join us for a year, working alongside our consultants and gaining an insight into life in a technical consultancy. You will contribute to exciting live client projects, as well as internal TTP initiatives to get hands-on, practical experience and discover what a career in innovative technology and product development can offer.
We are looking for students who are ready to create their own opportunities within TTP. You will have the chance to participate in all areas of the work we do, including time in the lab, joining team meetings and interacting with our clients; experiencing the day-to-day reality of a career with one of Europe’s leading technology company.
Requirements
When considering applications, we are looking for individuals with the following traits:
- Studying towards a 2.1 degree in Engineering (General, Aerospace, Biomedical, Mechatronics, Robotics, Mechanical design, or other related disciplines considered).
- Must have completed at least 2 years of study by the time of the start of your internship (so students at the beginning of second year are very welcome to apply)
- Enthusiastic and curious in nature. We want people who love to learn and get to the heart of a problem – and who do so enthusiastically
- Evidence of practical applications of your degree, whether this is through university, previous work experience, or extra-curricular activities.
- Demonstration of a good grasp of the fundamentals of your chosen discipline and the ability to apply these to understanding and developing new technology.
If you are doing a product design course and are looking for a placement, we will open applications for placements in our Product Design/Industrial Design team separately in February 2025.
Note: we recruit on a rolling basis, reviewing applications as they are submitted. There is no set deadline, but once all positions are filled, the advert will close. We recommend applying early for the best chance, as most places are typically filled by Christmas.
Benefits
This is a paid internship, with TTP’s flat structure providing you with the opportunity to take on significant responsibilities.
TTP is an employee-owned trust operating from pleasant surroundings on our own campus in Melbourn, just south of Cambridge - take a tour here. Our working culture encourages entrepreneurship, shared ideas and technical collaboration, while providing you the freedom to do your best work.
Other benefits include 25 days’ annual holiday (pro rata), plus bank holidays; an annual profit related bonus; free lunch and subsedised breakfast; lunchtime activities, such as board games, sports and the TTP rock band; discounts; a free gym; access to a cycle to work scheme.
