The Role

Teaching Personnel is seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join the committed team at the school. In this role, you will be integral in supporting students with a range of additional needs, ensuring they can fully access the curriculum and engage with school life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with classroom teachers to provide tailored support to students with SEN.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of differentiated learning activities, making use of the school’s excellent resources.
  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to students, adapting resources and strategies to meet their individual needs.
  • Help create a positive and inclusive learning environment across the school.
  • Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback to teachers and the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator).
  • Support the development of students’ social and emotional skills, encouraging independence and self-confidence.
  • Work with parents, teachers, and external professionals to ensure comprehensive support for students.
  • Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and other support strategies.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN in a school or similar setting would be an advantage but not essential.
  • An outgoing, friendly and approachable personality is important as building relationships with students is more important for this role.
  • An empathetic understanding of the challenges faced by students with additional needs.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to positively impact the lives of young people.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or SEN (desirable, but not essential).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
