Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting and leading within a vibrant school environment? GSL Education are currently looking for a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a dynamic and welcoming local school based in Blandford as soon as possible.
About the School:
The school supports students who have been excluded from mainstream education, which could be for a variety of reasons, such as - behaviour, emotional dysregulation etc. The school therefore emphasises the importance of collaboration between staff, students, parents, and management for success. Their strong pastoral system provides support, guidance, and a secure environment for students to thrive and develop confidence. The school also collaborates closely with the Dorset SEND team to swiftly identify and support pupil needs. Staff undergo regular training and updates on behaviour support strategies from various professionals and agencies. Special Educational Needs and Disability strategies are meticulously planned and monitored to ensure optimal outcomes for all pupils, irrespective of SEND status.
About the Role:
As an HLTA, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the educational experience of the students. You will support the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning, stepping up in the absence of class teachers and contributing to the effective management and development of other Teaching Assistants.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the planning, preparation, and delivery of engaging lessons, providing support to students and ensuring a positive learning environment.
- Take on the responsibility of delivering lessons and managing the classroom in the absence of the class teacher, ensuring continuity and consistency in teaching.
- Oversee and support the work of other Teaching Assistants, offering guidance and mentoring to help them achieve their professional development goals.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback and support to help them reach their full potential.
- Work closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to support the individual needs of students and contribute to their overall development.
Key Requirements:
- Significant experience as a Teaching Assistant, with a proven track record of supporting and leading in educational settings.
- HLTA qualification or equivalent, alongside relevant GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire both students and colleagues.
- Flexible and resourceful, with the capability to step into various teaching and leadership roles as required.
- A genuine passion for education and a commitment to supporting the diverse needs of the students.
