If yes then we are developing a selection of exciting opportunities within our band 6 posts at our Good Hope and Heartland Sites; we have static and rotational contracts available. We will also consider 5-6 developments for those who would like additional support with their development.

For those interested in our rotational post, the opportunities available include: Specialist Surgery, Stroke, Trauma and Orthopaedics, Older People, Emergency Medicine and Respiratory.

The post holder could already be a Band 6 wishing for a change or are you currently an experienced Band 5 who like to practise in a variety of clinical areas at a more senior level, with the potential for 5-6 development posts.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties:

With training and development you will provide Physiotherapeutic assessment, management and rehabilitation of patients in a variety of clinical areas. Working in a variety of teams that consists of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Therapy Support Workers.

Your responsibilities will be varied and challenging, however, being able to multi task in an effective manner whilst maintaining a caring approach.

Required to participate in the seven day working programmes across the organisation, and demonstrate flexibility to work in a variety of shift patterns.

MAIN DUTIES

To hold responsibility for own case load and be responsible for a defined area of the service, working without direct supervision. Supervision takes the form of regular formal training and clinical reasoning sessions, peer review, case conferences. Access to advice and support from senior physiotherapists is available, clinical work is not routinely evaluated.

To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner and maintain associated records. To participate in the site on-call respiratory physiotherapy out of hours service once training has been provided and deemed competent.

To assist with supervision, education and co-ordination of generic therapy assistants, junior therapy staff and students.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

Diploma / degree in physiotherapy. * Current registration with Health Care Professions Council. * A levels or equivalent qualification * Good standard of general education including GCSE maths and English grade C and above. * Evidence of CPD including recent post graduate training relevant to clinical speciality.

Desirable

Evidence of leadership training. * Attendance at Clinical Educators Course.

Experience

Essential

Demonstrates comprehensive clinical experience enabling the post holder to manage a caseload of patients with complex needs in this speciality. * Significant experience of working in an acute hospital setting including acute hospital experience in a broad variety of clinical areas * Experience of team/service development. * Experience of working on a respiratory physiotherapy on-call service, to include non-invasive ventilation knowledge. The job description itself may be amended from time to time in consultation with the post holder, within the scope and general level of responsibility attached to the post. All post holders must take responsibility to ensure that they are aware of and adhere to all Trust policies, procedures and guidelines relating to their employment regardless of their position within the Trust. * Experience of supporting and supervision of junior therapists, student physiotherapists and assistants. * A specialist knowledge across a range of therapy practices, routine and nonroutine, requiring expertise within the field of therapy. * Good understanding of working in an Acute Hospital Trust. * Understanding of current legislation and application to Physiotherapy

Additional Criteria

Essential

Demonstrate enthusiasm for the specialist areas. * Demonstrate a professional attitude. * * An ability to cope with moving/manoeuvring patients/equipment on a daily basis. * An ability to frequently concentrate on patient assessments and treatments. * An ability to cope with occasional exposure to distressing/emotional situations. * Able to contribute to weekend and evening service. * Ability to take part in respiratory oncall rota * Demonstrate an interest in developing expertise within the clinical area.
