As a lay member of our governing body, you will be integral to us achieving our strategy. 

You’ll help to support our decision making, challenge our thinking and hold us to account.

At Loughborough we value the voluntary nature of governing body membership and ensure a manageable time commitment of approximately 10-15 days per year.

Commitments:

Council meets four times annually, with three in person meetings in March, June and October (Away Day), and one online meeting in November. Lunch is provided for all in-person meetings and plenty of opportunities to attend post meetings/evening meals out. You will be invited to serve on at least one other specialist corporate committee such as Human Resources Committee. Allowing you to work closely with a smaller group of university stakeholders and apply your personal experience to support policies and decisions. You will have the opportunity to attend our annual joint Senate and Council dinner. You will be invited to a range of social events which are a great way to learn more about Loughborough and network with others.

Whilst the roles are not remunerated, we’ll cover reasonable expenses which will be reimbursed in line with the University’s expenses policy.
