Role Overview: 

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Data Modeller with a strong background in data modelling and design, data management, and requirements definition and management. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of experience and be capable of designing, developing, and optimizing robust and scalable data models. This role will involve working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure data integrity and support business intelligence and analytics initiatives.



Requirements

1. Data Modelling and Design

  • Design and develop logical and physical data models to meet the needs of various business applications.
  • Ensure data models align with organizational data architecture and industry best practices.
  • Create and maintain data models, diagrams, and documentation using data modelling tools.
  • Conduct model reviews and provide feedback to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Collaborate with database administrators to implement data models and optimize performance.

2. Data Management

  • Manage and maintain data models throughout the data lifecycle, ensuring data quality and integrity.
  • Develop and enforce data modelling standards, guidelines, and best practices.
  • Work with data governance teams to ensure compliance with data policies and regulations.
  • Conduct data analysis and profiling to identify and resolve data issues.
  • Support data migration and integration efforts by providing data modelling expertise.

3. Requirements Definition and Management

  • Gather and analyze business requirements related to data management and modelling.
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications and data models.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to validate data models and ensure they meet business needs.
  • Maintain traceability between business requirements and data models.
  • Conduct impact analysis for changes to data models and provide recommendations.

4. Methods and Tools

  • Utilize data modelling tools and methodologies to create and maintain data models.
  • Stay current with emerging data modelling tools, technologies, and best practices.
  • Provide training and support to team members on data modelling tools and techniques.
  • Continuously improve data modelling processes and methodologies.
  • Participate in tool evaluations and make recommendations for improvements.

5. Collaboration and Communication

  • Work closely with data architects, data engineers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders to ensure transparency and alignment.
  • Mentor junior data modellers and provide guidance on best practices and technical skills.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in data modelling and design.
  • Proven experience in data management and requirements definition and management.
  • Strong understanding of data modelling concepts, techniques, and methodologies.
  • Proficiency in data modelling tools such as Erwin, ER/Studio, or similar.
  • Experience with SQL and relational databases.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and NoSQL databases.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and data modelling in cloud environments.
  • Knowledge of data governance and data quality practices.
  • Certifications in data management or related technologies.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies
