At Tearfund, we know that in disasters and crises, the local church plays a critical role.Present before, during and after an emergency, churches can and do have a significant impact on disaster risk reduction and resilience building, therefore at Tearfund we seek to equip churches to be centres of transformation, addressing the disaster risks that keep people in poverty.

This new, global role will support our Church-focused Disaster preparedness, Disaster Risk Reduction and Disaster Response work, as part of Tearfund's 'Crisis to Resilience' (C2R) corporate priority, equipping teams to be able to integrate and strengthen disaster resilience within Church and Community Transformation work.

As part of this role, the successful postholder will focus on a number of key areas, including:

Supporting regional and country programmes, to develop and implement C2R plans Identifying and sharing learning, and convening learning spaces relating to churches & disasters both from within Tearfund and outside of it  Developing, adapting, contextualising and promoting resources, tools and guidance relating to churches and disaster risk managment Supporting relevant policy and advocacy work relating to on Faith and disaster risk management Identifying strategic evidence gaps and providing support to research and learning activities Resource mobilisation and church-linked programme design to support the expansion of our work in this area

We are looking for an inspirational individual with significant experience accompanying churches, denominations and networks of faith actors in a disaster risk management related role and a proven track record in the following areas:

Capacity strengthening Advocacy and influencing Theological engagement Development of resources, tools and guidance Project managment Learning facilitation

Are you the person we are looking for

Applicants must be willing to travel extensively (approximately 8 weeks per year) and should have excellent written and spoken English. 

This is a global role and can be based in any country where Tearfund operates
