Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to take your career to the next level within our Acute Respiratory service. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and clinically skilled registered nurse to join our Respiratory team at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Experience within respiratory is desirable but we are also keen to support the right person in their leadership progression who would like the opportunity as a Band 6 senior nurse. It is essential that you have experience in acute care, complex discharge planning and be able to function well within a multidisciplinary team. This role is integral in the delivery of high standard of care for our patients during their acute phase.

In return we can give you the opportunity to develop the clinical and leadership skills required to progress your career. You will be fully supported by the Senior Sisters, Ward Manager, Matron and the wider MDT to ensure you reach your full potential in this role.

Main duties of the job

To support the Ward Manager or Matron in ensuring the provision of excellent care with compassion for the patients, relatives and visitors who are cared for within or by the ward, department, service or team.

Be responsible for ensuring the planning, delivery and evaluation of care to meet the personalised health and wellbeing care needs of patients, in line with the Trust's Values & Nursing & Midwifery Professional Framework

Provide strong leadership and direction to the team, monitoring and maintaining standards of care and professional practice to support day to day efficient running of the clinical area, service.

Act as a strong role model and provide development, clinical supervision and advice for other staff and students to support them in reaching their full potential. Actively engage in research and development opportunities for the service.

To ensure the productive operation of the ward environment through the maintenance of a safe, clean and organised environment.

To act at all times in a manner that upholds the Trust's values and & Nursing & Midwifery Professional Framework goals, working as part of a team to ensure that patients and relatives receive excellent care with compassion

Qualifications

Essential

oDiploma or Degree in Nursing oNMC recognised Mentorship qualification oEvidence of continuing professional education or development in area of speciality oAppropriate NMC Registration

Desirable

oDegree oPost registration qualification in area of speciality area

Experience

Essential

oEvidence of leadership experience and learning. oKnowledge of Clinical Governance and safeguarding and the relevance to practice oKnowledge of relevant policies and procedures oExperience of implementing changes to benefit patients and improve nursing practice oKnowledge of Ethical issues
