Job summary

The post holder will act as clinical lead to the ICMP team. Provide direct line management, leadership, and support to junior colleagues. Assist & support senior staff to deliver care within the service. Develop specialist practice-based clinical models of care. Provide a range of quality services and interventions. Provide effective leadership for a multidisciplinary clinical team, providing a high quality service within the resources available. Ensure the development of services that are comprehensive, flexible and promote a culture of service users and carers' involvement at every stage of the care pathway. Lead and manage a multi-professional team of staff with day-to-day clinical responsibility for the team. Provide supervision, mentorship, and leadership for staff within the team. Have considerable experience in Mental Health assessment, management, and clinical risk. Have a good understanding and a high level of competence with therapeutic skills and be responsive and flexible in their approach to working with adult. Take lead in the overall clinical pathways of ICMP service as well as supporting the team and locality manager to ensure quality and timely service delivery.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to coordinate and lead team functioning with particular focus on

Actively contributing to the planning, development and leadership of the Bromley west ICMP mental health service in Oxleas. Have a sound clinical judgment and a wide range of previous experience of working within a community setting. The role will have a clinical and managerial component involving referral / assessment management and overseeing the overall pathways of the service. Liaise with multiple services. support clinical leads as well supervising frontline staff and input into managing service operational issues. Manage referrals, assessment, and treatment. Demonstrate and provide robust clinical leadership to junior staff with a sound understanding of evidence based nursing practice to provide a pro-active approach to ensure quality and outcome driven practice on a day-to-day basis. Ensure that a culture of effective risk management is present in the team. Ensure that the team functions in line with the agreed operational policy. Participate in recruitment and selection of staff within the team, leading on decisions as designated by the Service Line Manager. Respond to serious untoward incidents as appropriate and support any subsequent investigation. Respond to Safeguarding Adult alerts as appropriate.

Assume overall clinical accountability for the team alongside the team Manager. Play a lead role in the on-going development and delivery of an effective integrated healthcare service team clinical model. Manage a clinical caseload. Ensure all clinics are delivered in a clinically effective, efficient & timely way, in line with service needs. Deliver strategies designed to promote and improve health and prevent disease, working proactively and collaborating with other professionals, organisations and agencies as directed Support systems for the collection, triage & management of all referrals. Monitor and audit of the quality and effectiveness of all aspects of service delivery. Maintain an effective case management service to ensure care and continuity of treatment is maintained throughout a clients care pathway. Liaise with others to share expertise, promote ideas and work collaboratively with key stakeholders, agencies and organisations as required. In the absence of the Operational manager, to assume responsibility for the day to day operational management of the team ensuring the service is delivered within the agreed structures outlined in the operational policy. Provide clear and consistent leadership to the workforce of the team and offer professional advice when required. Engage staff in the delivery of all performance targets for and on behalf of the Trust, to assist the team in improving the quality of the service. Establish, develop, and contribute to service developments within the locality and wider directorate. Understand the Trusts key priorities and those of your care group and translate these into key priorities for your care group. Develop, implement, and maintain systems, processes, and practice in risk management, including the management of Health and Safety. Ensure all aspects of Safeguarding are adhered to and that policies and procedures are always followed. Effective management of risk of infection ensuring related polices fully complied with and communicated in the team(s). Ensure management of staff is consistent with Trusts HR Policies to the achievement of equality, equity and optimum performance. Conduct and contribute to the PDR process for all staff within the team which reflect Trust and local priorities and ensure staff has access to appropriate training and development. Communicate regularly through team meetings, team briefings, clinical forums. and individually with team members providing an opportunity for two-way feedback. Ensure that service users and carers opinions and experiences are being responded to at a team level. Actively participate in the development of policies and procedures pertaining to the service. Ensure effective leadership and management, continuous service development, improvement and high quality service delivery. Ensure care is locally delivered, at the right time and is service user/ carer focussed.
