The Physiotherapy Outpatients department are seeking an experienced Physiotherapist with a special interest in MSK to join their excellent team of therapists.

You would join a well-established and highly skilled team of Physiotherapists and Hand Therapists who work across three satellite clinics with excellent Technical Instructor and administrative support

The service sits within the dynamic and evolving Therapy group which brings all Therapy services together to work in collaboration to ensure strong governance and leadership. Within the group there are opportunities for multi-professional learning and service development.

Hours per week: 37.5

Shift pattern: Mon – Fri

Main duties of the job

This post will involve managing a varied caseload of MSK conditions. The successful applicant will demonstrate excellent communication skills and enthusiasm to deliver high quality, patient centred care.

The post holder will provide assessment and treatment for a range of MSK acute and long term conditions, manage own caseload, provide timely treatment and discharge by following set protocols. Be confident to practice autonomously, support junior staff members with clinical and non clinical task . Work closely with Therapy Service Lead to improve service outcome and support in expansion of the service. Work closely with the admin team in providing the best patient experience.

The post holder will be responsible for supervising Junior staff members and students on placement. The role is expected to have elements of managerial responsibilities as a senior team memebr.

We offer a paper light service by using Systm One for record keeping and electronic exercise prescription.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To work as a clinical specialist Physiotherapist in MSK Outpatients, which includes assessment and diagnostics to incorporate the use of medical procedures such as blood tests and imaging. To work alongside the MDT to provide a service for patients with MSK conditions, triaging referrals, consulting with patients, reviewing them within agreed pathways and making clinical judgements related to future care as indicated. To undertake the advanced assessment and treatment of patients within the MSK speciality who may have a complex and/or chronic presentation. To determine a clinical diagnosis, to treat as indicated and to maintain records as an autonomous practitioner.  To manage your own clinical and personal professional development, using your acquired knowledge to assist team education and development for an optimum provision of future patient car

Qualifications

Essential criteria

Degree or equivalent in Physiotherapy Current HCPC registration & Member of CSP Relevant CPD

Desirable criteria

Research background within a clinical environment member of Special interest group

Experience

Essential criteria

Wide ranging post graduate clinical experience with substantial involvement in the MSK speciality Experience of working within an MDT in the NHS Experience of imaging and other clinical on-line systems Experience of supervising less experienced staff and students

Desirable criteria

Project Management experience Use of electronic record keeping e.g. SystmOne Experience of service leadership and of operational management of staff including HR procedures

Knowledge

Essential criteria

Proven specialist clinical knowledge in Musculoskeletal speciality including highly developed understanding of advanced assessment and treatment Proven understanding of clinical governance with risk management, its importance and an awareness of how it is carried out Experience of handling complaints. Experience in large Caseload management.

Desirable criteria

Knowledge of national agenda, CQC and development involving Physiotherapy Understand relevant NICE guidelines associated with MSK Orthopaedics and Rheumatology and how they impact on service provision

Essential criteria

Ability to disseminate complex information to others in a clear and logical manner, maintain relationships with profession and multidisciplinary teams. Able to problem solve, ability to work under pressure, ability to work within tight deadlines and effective stress management Able to assess, plan and progress treatments appropriately with Empathetic approach. Competent computer skills, enthusiasm for learning, assertiveness, experience in motivating and empowering staff and patients

Desirable criteria

Ability to manipulate data and produce reports related to activity
