Job summary

Are you an experienced Band 5 Nurse or already working at a B6 level and ready to grow and develop your skills within Community Stroke and Neurorehabilitation (CSNRT)?

We have an exciting opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner for 12 months to cover maternity leave to come and join our team and expand your knowledge, skills and expertise in this immensely rewarding area of work. We are a strong MDT comprising of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapist, Dietitian, Nurses, Psychologists, Therapy Instructors/ Senior Assistants, Social Work, Assistant Practitioners and expert Administrative support.

Main duties of the job

Based at St James House, you would contribute to the full scope of CSNRT team assessments, care and treatment provision. This may entail supporting acute discharge planning, assessment, and delivery of nursing care plans in the patient's home, support to and communication about the MDT rehab process, contribution to weekly MDT meetings and facilitation of communication with patients and their families, the wider MDT and other primary care and voluntary sector colleagues.

We have a strong MDT and leadership team and you will be supported by the Lead Nurse and Non-Medical Stroke Nurse Consultant.

As a team, we are always striving to improve within an MDT environment, therefore, ability to work as part of a team, leadership skills and experience of supervising staff/students are essential criteria.

Experience at Band 5 level (or above) with experience of stroke services or neurological experience is essential You will need to be able to demonstrate specialist knowledge in the assessment and treatment of Stroke / Neuro patients; insight into the stroke rehabilitation process and an understanding of the National Guidelines / Standards pertinent to Stroke and Neuro conditions

Highly developed communication skills, flexibility, good organisational skills and time management skills are all essential criteria. Basic IT skills are also required. The ability to cover the geographical footprint is essential, usually by provision of own car.

Please note an NMC PRN PIN is not a full NMC PIN and would not fulfil the essential criteria for this role.

This vacancy is open to those who have a current NMC PIN to practice as an Registered Nurse or Midwife in the UK, or those who are currently enrolled on a course which means they expect to receive their full NMC PIN within the next 3 months.

The NCA can no longer accept applications from International Nurses and Midwives who are yet to complete all competencies needed to receivea full NMC PIN to practice in the UK as we have paused our OSCE programme indefinitely.
