We are looking for a full-time Risk Control Analyst with experience in the financial services industry to help build and support the Risk Control function at Validus. Risk Control’s overarching objective is to ensure that an effective and efficient framework of controls is in place to mitigate risk across the firm’s trading activities. Responsibilities:

The Risk Control Analyst plays a pivotal role in driving an ethos of risk management discipline across the organisation and in providing leadership and direction within the Risk Control team in carrying out the following primary responsibilities:

  • Assist with the verification of trades with counterparties, including the reconciliation and validation of trade capture and trading activity in a timely and accurate manner;
  • Build relationships with the front office and technology team across the several jurisdictions to address trade related enquiries;
  • Provide trade support for various FX, Interest Rate, and Exchange Traded products including (but not limited to) FX Spot, Forwards, Swaps, and Options, Cross Currency Swaps, Interest Rate Swaps, Credit Default Swaps, Equity and Fixed Income Futures;
  • Contribute to the production of daily and weekly Risk Control reports, encapsulating CMS and TriOptima activity;
  • Contribute towards the monitoring, investigation and reconciliation of trade breaks;
  • Support the process and delivery of daily risk checks; subsequently generate and deliver risk reports in a timely manner;
  • Maintain the integrity and confidentiality of all trade-related data;
  • Identify risks, design and implement appropriate mitigating risk controls in partnership with key stakeholders;
  • Monitor the ongoing effectiveness of the firm’s risk control framework;
  • Work with key stakeholders to scope, design, and implement controls to address key risks and ensure design adequacy and operating effectiveness of risk controls;
  • Automation of existing manual controls, to enhance and continuously improve the design and effectiveness of controls, including efficiencies in documentation, assessment, and testing of controls;
  • Support the development of the internal risk controls framework;
  • Conduct and maintain the enterprise-wide risk assessment across the different teams and different jurisdictions;
  • Assist with establishing an internal audit plan to evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal systems and processes; and
  • Assist with developing the Company’s operational resiliency, by focusing on the third-party supplier management and business continuity / disaster recovery work streams.

Requirements

  • Strong technical and personal skills to be both an effective advisor to the business and an enforcer of policy.
  • Strong understanding of various security types- FX Spot, FX Forwards, FX Swaps, FX Options, Interest Rate Swaps, Fixed Income and Equity Futures.
  • Advanced knowledge of TriOptima, CMS and Bloomberg.
  • Able to understand the root cause of issues and identify the right course of action.
  • Willing to be very hands-on and ability to adapt quickly to the workflow in support of the Risk Control team, with focus on delivering results and meeting deadlines.
  • Experience in implementing quality assurance frameworks, reporting and controls that promote quality services and minimise operational and financial risks.
  • Perseverance to investigate, understand and resolve complex issues.
  • In depth knowledge and experience in risk control management.
  • Technical literacy with excellent analytical skills.
  • Experience and ability to design, scope, drive and deliver operational change programmes.
  • Proactive, continuous improvement mind set, comfortable with ongoing change, drives improvement to own function and the wider organisation.
