Due to continued growth and success, our Purchasing department are looking for a Senior Buyer to join their busy team. This role will suit someone with experience in purchasing and buying within an engineering and manufacturing environment and excellent administration and organisational skills, who is looking for their next challenge/new role in a multi-tasking, fast-paced and dynamic team environment.


The Senior Buyer will source materials, supplies and services at the most favourable terms for the organisation. The individual will support the project teams and manufacturing to ensure on-time completion of projects.


The Senior Buyer is responsible for performing thorough and accurate shop release/demand signal evaluation with a keen eye on material specification, certification requirements, and in accordance with customer purchasing restrictions. The Senior Buyer will generate and distribute bid/quote packages and purchase orders, maintaining necessary and often aggressive delivery schedules, and will support enquiries from internal customers, and other tasks as needed.


As part of the Zeeco Europe Purchasing Team, this individual will interface with other Zeeco staff within Zeeco Europe and other Zeeco global locations including engineering, drafting, quality, shipping, receiving, as well as sub-contractors, component suppliers, and others as needed.


The successful candidate will be a confident and driven individual who can prioritise their work to meet delivery of tasks and works well in a team. Detail and accuracy are key requirements in this role with the Senior Buyer needing to report accurately on procurement status to a range of project stakeholders.

The Senior Buyer will work closely with the Vendor Manager / Supplier Development Engineer to quantify and improve supplier performance.


Duties will also include:
• Purchase of materials in line with approved manufacturers lists according to fabrication drawings and associated bill of materials.
• Creation of purchase orders in accordance with company procedures and in line with financial processes.
• Liaising with supply chain and project managers on relevant projects to ensure understanding of requirements, delivery, budgets.
• Identification of best value opportunities whilst keeping to required delivery.
• Creation and delivery of project status updates to key stakeholders.
• Provide support for amendments and ongoing management of the approved vendor list.
• Create works orders and identify when orders are required for stock items.
• Run stock item reports, monitor shortages and re-order as per agreed requirements.
• Raise purchase orders based on MRP suggestions.
• Assist with periodic and annual stocktakes.
• Work to develop the business system (SAGE 200) to improve efficiency and workflow.
• Contribute to the creation of team KPIs.
• Provide direction or support where required to team buyers.
• Occasional travel to supplier locations.


The person:
• 3-5 years' experience within a similar senior procurement position
• Ideally MCIPS qualified or actively pursuing certification
• Experienced in purchasing within fabrication environment/electrical components/instrumentation
• Excellent sourcing & negotiating skills
• Good communication skills, verbal and written
• Good organisation and time management skills, self-motivated with ability to work remotely without direct supervision
• IT literate (Microsoft Office), with strong excel skills, SAGE 200 (or equivalent business system) experience and MRP experience
• A strong team player, who is resourceful, well organised, highly dependable, efficient and detail orientated
• Must live within 1 hour commute of the office (LE15 7QT), be able to drive and hold a full driving licence.
