Job overview

The Rapid Diagnosis Centre has two dedicated pathways for seeing patients with vague symptoms and patients with neck lumps, that the GP feels may have a cancer and offer a rapid evaluation to aid in diagnosis. The clinics are held a Neath Port Talbot Hospital.

The postholder will assist the RDC CNS’s in supporting the patients through their clinic appointments by liaising with the patients, taking observations and other duties relevant to the role. The RDC team is a small team and this role is vital to the smooth running of the clinic.

Main duties of the job

The main role and responsibility of this position is to provide patient and clinic support. The role will involve patient support prior to their visit to the RDC; helping to coordinate the patients experience throughout the clinic; and assisting the CNS’s with completing required investigations such as phlebotomy, ECG and other clinical investigations.

Sensitive and effective communication skills are essential for this patient-centre role.
