Design Engineer - Bearings (Mechanical)

The Design Engineering team are looking to welcome an enthusiastic and resourceful Mechanical Design Engineer to join our dynamic team in a permanent position located in Havant, UK.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on all manner of vessels within the Naval & Commercial markets with a focus on military applications.

What will you be doing?

Create proposal and installation level General Arrangement drawings / and detail designs for marine propulsion shaft line bearing installations. Create/support calculation and analysis of bearing equipment. Support design and technical specification, configuration and supporting activities for externally manufactured bearing products. On-time delivery and correct quality of product documentation. Provide support data for products. Supplier and Manufacturer liaison. Support customer and field service during installation and replacement of bearing assemblies as required. Provide technical knowledge to support customers through life of product. Maintain compliance within all relevant data control requirements. Developing own knowledge base of product specification, integration and support. Developing own knowledge of internal tools, processes and systems.

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

A degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent. A proven technical background within Mechanical Engineering, ideally in marine propulsion bearing design. Effective communicator with both internal and external customers. Sound analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail with a structural and methodical approach to work tasks. Fluency in the English language, both verbal and written. Knowledge of the Marine industry is desired.
