We are looking for confident and competent Band occupational therapists to work within the older persons mental health Occupational Therapy service within BCUHB, delivering client centred and specialist, occupationally focused assessments and interventions to older people with dementia as part of the multidisciplinary team.
The successful candidate will become part of a proactive, BCUHB wide, older person's mental health Occupational Therapy team who work together to develop clinical skills and effectiveness across the older persons mental health pathway.
We seek to expand the mental health Occupational Therapy provision across all three Areas of BCUHB by evaluating service provision, developing business cases and running pilot projects. The Occupational Therapy service is committed to lifelong learning and evidenced based practice. All staff receive support and encouragement to utilise continuing professional development (CPD) to maintain a CPD portfolio.
The current vacancy is within the East Area older persons dementia inpatient ward.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
The post holder will work as an autonomous practitioner following professional codes of conduct and ethics carrying a varied specialist caseload in a specialist area of practice which will include patients with complex needs.
Clinical activities can take place in a wide range of settings including hospital, clinic and community settings, and patients own homes.
The post holder will provide supervision to Occupational Therapy support workers and students and in addition may provide supervision or guidance and support to support workers from another discipline. The post holder will support the learning and development of others including colleagues and peers.
The post holder will contribute to and lead some areas of service development duties within their department which can include attending meetings and leading in audit, evidence based practice research and service evaluation.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
