Job Description

What your new role will entail: 

Our successful Belfast Water team have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Civil Design Engineer to work across a number of high profile large scale projects and frameworks with various clients across Ireland. 

As a Senior Engineer, you will be supported and encouraged to maintain your CPD and embrace initiatives and mentor support to help you further develop your own skills and career.  

You will be responsible for: 

  • Providing design solutions on detailed engineering assignments involving calculations and drawings. 
  • Producing feasibility studies, including financial and non-financial comparisons. 
  • Gathering and correlating engineering data using established and well-defined procedures. 
  • Performing work in accordance with agreed budget and schedule with moderate supervision. 
  • Managing small teams to develop design outputs using the latest digital production methods, including 3D Revit and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Using your experience to liaise with the construction delivery team & contribute to providing solutions to challenges that arise during the design/construction process.
  • Liaising and collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams.  
  • Liaising with clients to obtain relevant technical consents as part of the engineering process. 
  • Ensuring CDM compliance throughout design and construction.

Being part of the team:

You will be key to delivering water and wastewater infrastructure for Uisce Éireann, Northern Ireland Water and private contractor clients on design and build schemes. Through our D&B work you will have the opportunity to see your design work come to life as you deliver construction phase works on site.

You will work alongside our project managers and lead design engineers for a variety of UK & Ireland clients, throughout the project design and delivery cycle, supporting various design stages of water and wastewater utility projects - including feasibility studies, reference designs, detailed designs and preparation of reports and technical specifications.

You will be part of a core team in Belfast of around 15 Civil Engineers and a wider team of 40+ of Civil Engineers, Geotechnical Engineers, Modellers, Structural Engineers, Planners, Ecologists and CAD Technicians.

Qualifications

Here's what we will need from you:

  • Civil Engineering degree
  • Experience working on the design and management of water and/or wastewater infrastructure and non-infrastructure schemes. 
  • Have experience in compiling feasibility reports for the water industry.
  • A background in Autodesk AutoCAD, ideally Civil 3D.
  • Working towards chartership
