About Claremont Ingredients:
Claremont is an independent UK flavour company based near Stoke on Trent in the West Midlands. We create and manufacture a complete range of liquid and powder flavourings for beverages, baked goods, ice cream and dairy products, sugar and chocolate confectionery and sports nutrition products and our aim is always to make sure that our flavours help to create finished food and drinks that consumers will want to came back for time after time. Our heritage in flavours goes back more than 30 years and draws on experience from all aspects of the food and flavour industries in a number of different countries. Through our long term approach to working with customers and by years of constant, careful work, Claremont has grown to be one of the leading independent flavour manufacturers in the UK.
Role: NPD Technologist
Reports to: NPD Manager
Location: Claremont Ingredients (ST5 6SS)
Overall Purpose: Create and develop new and existing products for customers in support of the company’s sales strategy, ensuring only quality, safe and legal products are created and supplied. The Application Technologist is responsible for driving innovation for new and existing product and supporting the company’s growth.
Key Accountabilities and Tasks:
New product development, create formulations for customers and potential customersAnalyse and consolidate market research and consumer insightsImprove existing products, working to raw materials cost guidelinesBuild knowledge of relevant technologies and new ingredients in order to offer customers new solutionsProduct matching for example of existing market productsQuality checks on flavours and colours – sensory testing, triangle tests, aroma tests and creating and recording sensory sheetsCustomer liaison as appropriate including customer visits and occasional attendance at exhibitionsCreate and despatch sample requests to customersOrder samples and specifications from suppliersPreference testingCleaning and maintaining standards of the equipment and the laboratoryAny other duties commensurate with the role and within the role capabilityKey Skills & Experience
Science/Nutrition/Food Technology degree or equivalentNumerate and literate with excellent communication skillsAble to deliver clear and concise ideas to both colleagues and customersEffective project management and planning skillsProactive and organised with strong time management, meticulous attention to details and a proven ability to multi taskAble to work well under pressure and deliver to strict deadlinesAble to carry out responsibilities with minimal supervision and thrive both on own initiative and as part of a team#LI-Onsite
