Job summary
An exciting opportunity for a qualified PCE CfD Supervisor you will be employed by Sunderland CounsellingService but based within the Northumberland Talking Therapies service,providing Talking Therapies compliant supervision for counsellors working atstep 3 of the stepped care model. They will be expected to work as an integralpart of the clinical management team in the service. The post holder will besupported by regular supervision and operational line and case managementprovided by Sunderland Counselling Service. It is a permanent position subject to a successfulprobationary period of six months. The post holder will work with people with differentcultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should becommitted to equal opportunities. An enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and BarringService will be required for this post.
The post holder may be called upon to use a personal meansof transport while engaged in the work of the service for which travel expenseswill be available.
The post holder will be entitled to 9 days annual leave atnormal salary rate or pro rata for part of a year. In addition, a pro rata entitlement to allstatutory public holidays will be given at a normal salary rate. This post may allow for some home working but will alsorequire a regular visible presence in Northumberland Talking Therapies basesand engagement with the clinical and operational management structures of theservice.

Provide Talking Therapiescompliant PCE CfD supervision to staff working as counsellors for SunderlandCounselling Service, specifically based within the Northumberland TalkingTherapies service.

HS Northumberland Talking Therapies(formerly known as Talking Matters Northumberland)offers free psychological treatment for people aged 16 and over who have a GP in Northumberland. We offer one-to-one talking therapy for depression, anxiety, stress, and other mental health related problems. We also offer Couples Therapy for Depression.

Job description
Job responsibilities
Provide supervision in both face to face and remote formats, as agreed with the SCS Clinical Lead and NTT Clinical Lead; as a guide, at least 50% of supervision is expected to be delivered in person.
Support supervisees to adhere to session limits and models as defined by the service and to achieve service-related performance measures.
Support supervisees to work from the assessment of a TT colleague to develop realistic therapy goals with clients to manage the issues and associated problems that are affecting their mental and emotional well-being.
Support supervisees to make decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering to the services referral protocols, referring unsuitable clients on to the relevant service or back to the referral agent as necessary, or step the persons treatment to another modality if required.
Support supervisees to use clinical supervision effectively and to improve competencies in clinical practice, including linking in with service management where appropriate.
Complete accurate and appropriate supervision notes on agreed case management systems such as IAPTus.
Where appropriate support the service and staff in obtaining necessary accreditation and Talking Therapy compliant qualifications.
Attendmulti-disciplinary meetings relating to referrals or clients in treatment whereappropriate.
Attend meetings of the NTTclinical management team as required by the NTT Clinical Lead.
Ensure the safety and consistencyof counselling services provided by Sunderland Counselling Service includingNorthumberland Talking Therapies.
Keep coherent records of clinicalactivity in line with service protocols and BACP supervision note keepingrequirements
Work closely with other membersof the NTT clinical team ensuring appropriate step-up and step-downarrangements are in place to maintain a stepped care approach.
Operate at all times from aninclusive values base which promotes recovery and recognizes and respectsdiversity.
Ensure ethical practice isobserved within Northumberland Talking Therapies and across SunderlandCounselling Service as an organisation and raise any issues and concerns withservice management where appropriate.
Provide assurance to servicemanagement of the safety, consistency and effectiveness of services provided.
Support counsellors in themanagement of risk at referral, assessment, and counselling stages.
Attend regular supervisorsmeetings with the wider supervision team at Sunderland Counselling Service.
If required by NorthumberlandTalking Therapies, provide counselling supervision for volunteer / traineecounsellors, and liaise with training providers concerning the progress ofstudent counsellors working on placement.
Observe and work according toclinical and operational policies and procedures set by Northumberland TalkingTherapies, including but not limited to data security & protection,confidentiality, risk management, safeguarding.
Working aspart of the larger team within NTT, participate in team development, trainingand regular supervision sessions.
Be accountable for personalconduct and professional standards of practice in relation to all relevantlegislation and statutory obligations, including the Children Act, Family LawAct, Health and Safety at Work, Equal Opportunities, local Safeguarding procedures.
Ensure thatclient confidentiality is protected at all times in line with NTT policies.
Be aware of and keep up to datewith advances in the spheres of treatment for common mental health problems.
Participate in individualperformance review and respond to agreed objectives.
Work with the Clinical Leads andDeputy Clinical Leads of Sunderland Counselling Service and NTT to provideservice management with assurance of the effectiveness of all supervisionprovided internally by Sunderland Counselling Service.
Be accountablefor the practice and behaviour of counselling staff and volunteers workingwithin the service.
Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
Qualified to Degree, MSc, MA, or Diploma level in Counselling Qualification in Talking Therapies compliant form of counselling therapy, specifically PCE- Counselling for Depression. Qualification in a Talking Therapies compliant supervision modality, specifically Supervision of PCE Counselling for Depression. Training in risk assessment.
Desirable
First training in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, or another relevant disciple. Psychology or other health related undergraduate degree. Psychology or other health related postgraduate degree
Requirements
Essential
Accreditation with BACP or other relevant professional body. High level of enthusiasm and motivation. Advanced communication skills Ability to work within a team and foster good working relationships. Ability to work under pressure. Regard for others and respect for individual rights of autonomy and confidentiality.
Desirable
Senior Accreditation as a supervisor with the BACP or other professional body Full clean driving license and use of car. Fluent in languages other than English.
Experience
Essential
Significant counselling experience post qualification, either in a paid or voluntary capacity. Significant experience of providing counselling supervision. Experience of effectively supervising counsellors offering time limited counselling. Experience of providing PCE CfD Supervision within primary care or TT setting. Experience of carrying out assessments of client support needs, including risk assessments. Experience of writing accurate supervision notes. Commitment to and experience of working with multi-agency partnerships. Experience of using electronic case management systems such as IAPTus. Experience of supervising counsellors working with people who have experienced a common mental health problem.
Desirable
Worked in a service where agreed targets were in place demonstrating clinical outcomes. Ability to manage own caseload and time. Evidence of working in the local community. Experience of providing counselling supervision to student counsellors working on placement. Experience in providing supervision on the telephone and online.-
