Permanent

Salary range: Starting from £50,000+ D.O.E

Full time: scheduled 37.5 hours per week

We're looking for a senior data scientist to join our team leading on innovation and use of Machine Learning and AI at Bupa in the operations and healthcare management area of our UK Insurance business. The senior data scientist will analyse large complex datasets such as pre-authorisation, claims and a range of other service interaction datasets and will need to be commercially focussed to deliver ML and AI solutions that deliver our strategic goals. The successful candidate will be a champion of AI in the business and heavily involved in shaping opportunities and developing people.

How you’ll help us make health happen:

·Building ML models and AI solutions and delivering or overseeing full lifecycle deployment to cloud.

·Helping grow business capability and knowledge of Generative AI.

·Providing actionable insight from data and presenting results to a range of audiences including senior teams.

·Interface with IT architects, platforms teams and solutions designers to ensure cloud environments are fit for our analytical purposes.

·Coaching, developing, and setting the direction for junior team members, and where appropriate managing a summer intern.

·Lead projects from beginning to end, from initial idea through to business delivery; supporting beyond just the analytical components.

· Delivering ad hoc insight using a range of data sets such as claims and pre-authorisation data.

· Growing long term relationships with key stakeholders.

Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:

· Hands on experience of supervised and unsupervised ML Algorithms such as XGBoost, Light GBM and Random Forests.

· Hands on experience using advanced statistical techniques such as correlation, regression, cluster analysis and multi-level modelling.

· High level of proficiency coding in Python.

·Experience with extracting and engineering large data sets pulled from enterprise level data warehouses using SQL or SAS code.

·Experience using the MS Azure tech stack including Azure Machine Learning, Azure AI Studio, Azure SQL,

· Experience deploying models in Azure using tools like Azure Kubernetes Service, including experience with MLOps and model monitoring.

· Knowledge and experience developing Generative AI solutions using Azure Open AI or using the Vertex AI in Google Cloud Platform.

·Experience developing automated ML pipelines using Python code.

·Experience using Natural Language Processing tools with Python code.

· Exposure to Agile methodologies and use of tools like Azure Dev Ops for Kanban and sprint management.

·Desirable but not essential would be a Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science or a related numerate field.

·Desirable but not essential would be a Master’s degree in data science, statistics or epidemiology.
