As a Lead Test Engineer you will define and implement the strategy for build automation test solutions that help to assure the quality of products that make up digital services providing leadership, guidance and technical expertise to the test engineering teams.
You will ensure that best practices are in place, and drive improvements by sharing knowledge and resources across teams.
You will have experience in building automated test solutions and be very familiar with industry standard automated testing tools.
You will work alongside other lead test engineers as well as both Software and DevOps Engineers within the teams around you and the wider community to deliver consistent solutions and strategies.

Job Description:

  • Experience of working in a complex, multi-disciplinary environment, delivering products within specific timescales and engaging with multiple senior Stakeholders.

  • Experience of creating test strategies and driving their implementation across an organisation.

  • Experience in the development of automated test suites and tools including but not limited to Java, Selenium, Cucumber, GITLAB CI.

  • Experience to work with Javascript based test automation frameworks and tools like Cypress, PlayWright.

  • An understanding of the following test phases and standards associated to Performance Test (Jmeter, Gatling or K6 ), Accessibility Test(AXE, Voiceover, Jaws, ReadWrite), Security Test(OWASP ZAP, SonarQube), Compatibility Test(Browser Stack, Sauce Labs) and API Testing(Insomnia, SoapUI).

  • Exposure of AWS Cloud and its services.

  • Experience to work in Microservices based Architecture and Setup framework for API Automation using Rest Assured or Cypress.

  • Experience to work with Contract Testing using PACT broker as well as Wire Mock.

  • Exposure to work with Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes

  • Exposure to work with monitoring and alert tools like Grafana, Prometheus, Dynatrace

Key responsibilities: (Up to 10, Avoid repetition)

 

 

At this role level, you will:

·        promote the use of open-source tools

·        be proficient in multiple test scripting languages

·        have a presence in external test communities and regularly share learning

·        work closely with leads across the Government Digital and Data profession to champion quality

·        guide test team members to design test strategies (which may involve more complex and larger scale delivery)

·        manage communications between projects to control integration and dependencies

·        write non-functional test approaches for major projects and provide guidance on risk approaches

·        write test approaches for major projects and provide guidance on risk approaches

·        set up frameworks based on the needs of the team

·        demonstrate knowledge of emerging tools and techniques

·        effectively work across different tools and software languages

·        lead investigative work into problems and opportunities in existing processes

·        drive the collection of information and the creation of recommendations for improvements
