The Research & Innovation Department is looking for a highly motivated Assistant Clinical Research Practitioner to join our busy and friendly mental health team. Research is considered an important component of a successful NHS provider organisation. Within Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust, we have a vision to embed a culture of research in the organisation to enable every patient and clinician the opportunity to participate in research. We have a number of novel and ground-breaking on-going clinical trials and research projects.

Research trials are important to ensure that the best advice and treatments are being provided to patients. Southern Health's Research & Innovation Department supports research across services throughout the organisation.

The role of the Assistant Clinical Research Practitioner is to provide clinical and administrative support for clinical research trials including data collection and data management support. This post will be primarily working within the Mental Health portfolio, but the team work across specialities at times and joint work with our Physical Health team.

For internal applicants, the fixed term post may provide a secondment opportunity. You should discuss this with your current line manager prior to making an application to confirm that, should you be offered the post, you would be able to return to your substantive role after the period of cover has ended.

Main duties of the job

Research is a critical component of successful NHS provider organisations, ensuring that clinical practice is based upon the latest evidence, and that all patients treated, and service users supported by Southern Health, receive the opportunity to take part in research.

It is also a key element of the continuing development of staff, providing stimulating opportunities for professional and personal growth.

The post holder will support the set up and delivery of the portfolio of mental health research across the Trust, including meeting with clinical teams, recruiting participants and completing study measures and administration

The final combination of Southern Health and Solent Trusts is anticipated to occur in July 2024, when the new organisation will be formed.

Our new Trust will continue to cater to the unique needs of different communities, making healthcare across the county more accessible, as well as offering staff more opportunities for career development, training and partnership working.
