Legal Counsel

All Legal Counsel within the Drax Legal Department are employed tosupport the Group through the provision of timely and high-quality legaladvice, with particular focus on ensuring the Group complies with all relevantlaws and regulations.

In this role you’ll have the flexibility and opportunity toprovide a diverse range of advice across all business areas and core servicesand participate in cross-Group projects as required, presenting the opportunityfor extremely varied work, and enabling the development of a deep understandingof the business.

Due to the broad range of work, the Legal Counsel (Shared Services)role lends itself particularly to individuals who are keen to learn and take onnew challenges, and who are willing to take on work in new or unfamiliarpractice areas. You’ll work alongsidethe members of the Legal Team who focus on supporting a particular business orcore services. Whilst you’ll primarily support Drax’s UK businesses, there mayalso be opportunities to support the Group’s Pellet Operations business inNorth America and on other projects and matters overseas.

This is a great opportunity for you to work in an in-house roleand be supported by a very experienced team who will support your learning anddevelopment.

Who we’re looking for:

You’llneed to have a relevant legal professional qualification and experience workingin a corporate/commercial environment. In-house advisory experience ispreferred but not mandatory.

You’llalso need to have -
• Excellent technical, analytical,drafting and strong negotiating skills
• The ability to provide clear andaccurate legal advice
• A pragmatic approach and an abilityto assess and quantify commercial risk
• Attention to detail
• Effective written and oralcommunication skills with a wide range of stakeholders
• A flexible approach and be willingto take on work in new or unfamiliar practice areas
• The ability to advise logically,concisely and persuasively
