Reporting to our Hospital Medical Director, you will perform a range of ophthalmology procedures on referred patients, working in accordance with existing protocols and working practices.

Main duties of the job

As wellas being able to offer expert clinical opinion on a range of problems withinophthalmology from your wide training and extensive experience, you will berequired to demonstrate a high level of operative skill in the followingareas:

High Volume Phakoemulsificationunder topical anaesthesia

Oculoplastic

Medical Retina

You willparticipate in the outpatients prior to surgery, and in all aspects of theoperative care of the patients. It is anticipated that you will spend theequivalent of at least three days in the operating theatre and two days a weekin a combination of outpatient assessment; administrative, management andclinical governance duties. Working closely with clinicalcolleagues, both specialists and RMOs, in order to enhance the level ofpatient care at the centre

What we're looking for in you

You will be a UKregistered medical professional :

Listed on the Specialist GMC register

with operative skills in -

high volume phakoemulsification under topical anaesthesia

Oculoplastic (desirable)

Medical Retina (desirable)

Experienced in high volume cataract surgery under topical anaesthesia
